Installations and Commissions
This
has been an extraordinary year for exciting high-end residential
and commercial projects.
When
shopping on Atlantic Avenue in Delray, drop in at the Aura
Restaurant for a marvelous gourmet dinner. Shuster
Design Associates created a casual, but elegant South Beach-type
interior on
this trendy street of
fine shops and eateries.
Krystin and Mike Bilton are your hosts at Aura,
and are simply delightful clients. The food is truly an experience
for the discriminating palate, and the surroundings are comfortable,
warm, and friendly. A 3½ star rating ... try it!!! (and tell
them Shuster sent you). They're located at 290 E. Atlantic
Avenue (561) 243-2686.
We
are completing a fabulous installation at the new, palatial
'Excelsior' on the ocean in Boca Raton. This breathtaking
4,000 square foot apartment boasts exotic wood floors and
an eclectic mix of the finest furnishings and finishes. Shuster
Design's Eric Dryer, is responsible for his architectural
wonder, replete with granite walls, multi-level ceilings,
and state-of-the-art electronics. Look for this installation
as a feature in upcoming interior design publications.
As
a result of two recent and successful installations in Porto
Vita (Aventura) and Mizner Grand (Boca Raton) Shuster
Design has recently been chosen for additional projects -
both luxury hi-rises. We are looking forward to completing
both projects in late fall 2003.
Shuster
Design Associates has been retained to design three projects
in DCOTA (The Design Center of the Americas). Two prominent
showrooms, Inside/Out and Jeffrey Michaels,
have hired the firm to renovate and redesign these spaces
to provide designers with more lines in comfortable and workable
environments. In addition, Mr. Marvin Danto, the visionary
developer of the DCOTA complex (the nation’s largest design
campus), has engaged Louis Shuster to design a conference
center and design lounge in DCOTA.
The
presentation was well received and the spaces will provide
designers with a functional facility to meet with her clients;
the conference center will be used for meetings, lectures,
and special presentations. A fall completion is scheduled.
Speaking
of DCOTA - a 'Designer Evening' was recently hosted
by the design center, featuring notable designers and industry
leaders, speaking to their peers on various subjects. Louis
spoke to a standing-room-only crowd on the topic of 'how to
keep a client for life.' The dialogue included helpful hints
and tips from his 22 years of experience and interactions
with his coveted clientele.
Joan Kerns, Executive Vice-President of DCOTA, recently
retained Louis Shuster to design her own home. Both an honor
and a privilege, Louis renovated, re-designed and installed
this estate home in Boca Raton's Broken Sound in just eight
weeks in time for Joan's engagement party. Our best wishes
to Joan Kerns and Alan Kaufman on their marriage
in August!!

The
Dream Team
A team of construction and design experts has been assembled
to transform several older properties throughout the Fort
Lauderdale area. The first, a 5,000 square foot waterfront
estate on the Las Olas Isles, is now under way.
Paskoski
Construction, the architectural firm of A.T. Franco and Associates
and Shuster Design, will pool their talents in converting this
typical 1970's structure into a Spanish Mediterranean-style
residence - with a price tag in excess of two million dollars!
Demolition
will begin at the end of the summer.
Completion
of a fabulous Harbor Beach estate home is slated for
completion August/September. This 6,000 square foot waterfront
home was built by Jack Mancini, President of Magna
Casa Homes in Fort Lauderdale for a prominent local entrepreneur.
The two-story estate features a gymnasium, temperature-controlled
wine room, two-story great room with stained glass ceiling,
exterior gas lanterns, pool side fireplace and gazebo, and
every amenity on the market today. Headed by Louis Shuster,
designers Gage Hartung, and Clayton Wedner
have worked on this project from inception to installation.
This is definitely one you'll be reading about.
A
very unique 'Island Retreat' on the intracoastal waterway
in Lighthouse Point will be completed by early September.
The 6 000 plus square foot home will echo the look of
the
developer's island properties and the many communities he’s
developed throughout the Bahamas... a relaxed tropical motif
with tin roof, painted white porches and paddle fans, shell-stone
floors and shutters, will provide a familiar environment
for
this young progressive developer and his family. Designer Gage
Hartung worked extensively on this
unique interior and has done a brilliant job.
Shuster
Design extends our best wishes to Ed and Jennifer Colson on
the recent birth of their son, Trace, and happiness in their
new home.
Recent
Publications
We
are so fortunate to receive wonderful press and media coverage
for our work. With the efforts of our design team, coupled
with the extraordinary talent of photographers, Kim Sargent,
our work has received incredible acclaim -
Veranda
Magazine (March/April), a fine national interior design
publication featured Louis' Fort Lauderdale home.
Florida
International Magazine (July/August), South Florida's
#1 lifestyle publication, focused on the design visionaries
of Florida - an eight-page spread was devoted to Louis, his
approach to design, and several views of his own home (once
the original site of the Cuban Consulate).
Trends
Magazine (a popular) New Zealand-based publication) has
requested photos of several recent Shuster Design installations.
Look for our work in upcoming issues. The magazine is available
in most bookstores and news stands. (For

Shuster
Design on The Air!
HGTV-(Home and Garden Television) has aired two spots
featuring a tour of a magnificent Fisher Island apartment
designed by Shuster Design. 'Design at Nine' spotlights and
outstanding high-end residential interiors by the country's
leading designers.
The
Best of Boca - A local television program, featuring notables
who reside in Palm Beach County recently featured a spot with
DCOTA's Joan Kerns, Executive Vice-President and General Manager.
When asked whom Joan selected to design her own home, she
replied, "Louis Shuster, Shuster Design Associates!"
She went on to say she had worked with the firm on her previous
home and enjoyed the entire process. The program aired in
May.
Barbara
Katz - The renowned Boca Raton couturier's advertisements
are seen several times a day on notable cable TV stations.
The 30 seconds spots featuring Barbara's magnificent ladies
sportswear and evening gowns were all filmed at Villa
Nora, Louis Shuster's Spanish Mission home, in Fort
Lauderdale. Look for these commercials and the 'Unmistakable
Signatures' of both design visionaries. Incidentally, Shuster
Design is responsible for the interior design of Barbara's
dress salon as well as her Boca Raton residence.

Competition
is Good
Shuster Design Associates has garnered two more awards for
design excellence - Palm Beach Illustrated Magazine,
a high profile Palm Beach publication, has awarded Shuster
Design first place in two categories for their yearly design
competition. Both entries (a sitting room and bar area) were
given to the firm for Shuster's own home.
A
black-tie extravaganza, honoring all the winners is to be
held at the Bear's Club in Jupiter in September.
Louis
was the recipient of the designer Excellence Award at the
Night of the Stars Gala 2002 at DCOTA. Sponsored by the national
and local design organizations, this is the first time for
this ward category. Unlike other awards given for design work
in specific categories and budgets, Louis’ award was presented
on the basis of his contributions to the design community,
reputation and dedication to his craft. Over 1,500 designers,
showroom owners, and industry leaders were in attendance.
Following his acceptance speech Louis received a standing
ovation!!!
